Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I'm on the fence about whether my child needs speech therapy or not. What's the process?
A: It’s very normal to feel unsure about whether your child needs a speech and language evaluation—many parents are on the fence at first. An evaluation doesn’t mean something is “wrong.” Instead, it’s a chance to get a clear picture of your child’s strengths and communication skills right now. From there, we can either ensure that your child is on track or we can identify areas where a little extra support could make things easier for them.
The earlier we check in, the more we can set your child up for success. Parents often tell me they feel relieved after the process, because they walk away with answers and practical next steps. We also offer free 15-minute consultations. Feel free to call and let us help guide you!
Q: What can we expect from speech therapy?
A: At P.L.A.Y, speech therapy is play-based, engaging, and tailored to your child. We start with an evaluation to understand your child’s strengths and needs, then create individualized goals to support their communication growth.
Therapy sessions feel like play—using games, toys, books, and activities your child loves, because kids learn best when they’re having fun. Parents are always part of the process, with practical strategies to carry over at home.
Whether your child is working on first words, navigating an AAC device for the first time, producing speech sounds, retelling stories, or working on social skills, our goal is to build confidence and connection every step of the way.
Q: Let's start! Do you accept insurance?
A: We currently accept private pay, North Los Angeles County Regional Center (NLACRC) families & some insurances (out-of-network provider).

PRIVATE PAY ROUTE: P.L.A.Y will collect payment at the end of the session. Upon request, we are able to provide families with Superbills. A superbill is a form that insurances use to process claims. This includes a numerical code representing the diagnosis (ICD-10) code and procedure (CPT) codes to describe the visit type. Reimbursement is dependent on your specific plan benefits.

NLACRC ROUTE: Contact your service coordinator to process an authorization for speech therapy services with our clinic.

OUT-OF-NETWORK ROUTE: We are considered an Out-of-Network provider. We work with a third-party billing platform that allows you to work towards your Out-of-Network deductible. Call us to check your coverage!
