Articulation refers to sound production (difficulty producing sounds such as /p, m, s, r, l, b/, etc.), while intelligibility refers to clarity of spoken words.

Apraxia is a motor planning disorder where there is a disconnect between coordination and production of sounds.

Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC)

Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) refers to a speech-generating device used to help individuals communicate more effectively & support overall language development.  AAC is widely used across a range of developmental and speech-language differences, including autism, developmental delays, childhood apraxia of speech, cerebral palsy, and other communication disorders.

One of the most powerful aspects of AAC is its flexibility. It can be introduced at any age—from toddlers to adults—and tailored to any ability level. 

​

At its core, AAC is about giving every individual a voice—because everyone deserves a way to be heard.

Autism

Developmental Delays/Disorders

Developmental delays refer to children experiencing difficulties in one/some/all areas of development, such as communication, motor, social-emotional, and cognition.

Autism Spectrum Disorder is a neuro-developmental difference that commonly impacts social skills, communication, sensory integration, motor planning, and behaviors. We focus on the Natural Language Acquisition framework for our Gestalt Language Processors!

Receptive & Expressive Language

Receptive/Expressive Language

Receptive language refers to the ability to understand and process spoken language. Following directions, retrieving items, identifying concepts are all examples of receptive language skills.

Expressive Language refers to the ability to use non-verbal/verbal means of communication in order to effectively get your message across. Combining words, answering comprehension questions, expressing simple/complex concepts are all examples of expressive language skills.

Fluency

Fluency or "Stuttering" is a disorder that causes disruptions in the flow of speech. This could be with repetitions, tensions or blocks. 

Pragmatic Language

Pragmatic Language

Pragmatic Language is a term used to describe social skills or how we use language to share information with others. Initiating play, sharing materials, maintaining play, including others in play are all examples of pragmatic language skills. Our social skills group may be a great start when there are difficulties in this area. â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹

Early intervention refers to children from 0-3 that are

"late talkers" or at risk for developmental delays or may have a known diagnosis. Therapy is geared toward fostering optimal growth and development during crucial early years.
